Our Brand Story
Our Raven Data team acknowledges that the land where we live, work, and play is in the Okanagan Valley, which is the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sylix/Okanagan People.
Raven Data is committed to Indigenous data sovereignty. We operate as a technology provider in service of First Nations communities across Canada.
We offer efficient and reliable solutions that integrate data privacy within existing software systems, while making connections in the data to streamline reporting for councils, community members, and financial clerks.
The meaning behind Raven Data
The raven holds immense cultural and personal significance for me and my ancestors across the Atlantic. My namesake, Brandon, translates to “little raven” in the Welsh language, and anchored my guiding vision as I imagined a company that would abide in the liminal space of AI technology, privacy, and Data Sovereignty in this modern age.
To my ancestors, raven symbolized protection and guardianship, as well as being able to straddle the liminal space between worlds. As I journey to remember truths from long ago, these symbols feel like essential elements to meet the intersection of tangible and technological forces shaping our human experience at this time.
Raven reminds me that there is an unbroken bond between people and the land, and that if we see through Raven's eyes, we will appreciate diversity and complexity, make new and profound connections, and draw on wisdom that flows through everything we experience and create.
